Public Lands
Ensuring access to public lands is vital to the future of our state.
Utah is famous for its outdoor recreation and extraordinary landscapes, from the Uinta mountains to Waterpocket Fold. Besides recreation, Utah's public lands are used for energy production, grazing, and watersheds. In addition, these lands have a rich cultural heritage that is valuable to native populations. We are responsible to be stewards for these lands, protecting them for generations to come. There are those in the legislature who have put the future of these important areas at risk, despite the lack of public support. I do not support efforts to transfer ownership of federal lands to the state.
